I suspect that John Nagle's grandfather Wm. Henry Hoffschwelle(born 1900?) was John Hoffschwelle's (born 1880) brother. John changed the name to Hoffswell sometime after 1913-probably after they moved to Chicago in the '20s.

Their father was probably William Hoffschwelle (born 1854) and this William had four children: Anthony(1888), Henry(1900), Elizabeth(1902), and Francis(1904). John Conrad (my grandfather) had three children: Loretta(1903), Wilbur(1906)(my father), and Vernon(1912). I seem to have a lot of snap-shots from Loretta's photo album with pictures of the St. Louis connection. They probably contain a lot of folks John would recognize-maybe!

Don't take this as gospel, however. I've gleaned this from the 1920 census record that Pete found. If it's true (more research), I don't know why I didn't hear about this before. But then again we didn't have much contact with my grandfather when I was a kid, and my Grandma and granddad where pretty much separated at the time.

I was born in St. Louis in 1951 to Glennon Nagle and Margaret Virginia Hoffschwelle. My grandfather, William Henry Hoffschwelle, was a fireman in St. Louis during his entire adult life, and died from Alzheimer's complications in about 1972. He had two daughters, Margaret and Mary, both deceased. We lived in his house in the Dutch/German section of South St. Louis most of my life. I know he had an ancestor named John Hoffschwelle, but without research I do not have any more facts about him. I had never seen the Hoffswell spelling before. Hope this helps

That mike that Tony Bennett is holding is an Electrovoice 635A, which was THE radio interview mike of the early sixties and is still going strong:

http://tinyurl.com/6xxc35

But the real reason I'm writing is to ask you what you think of that D094. It sounds pretty good to me! I have a chance to buy one - do you remember how much yours cost?

Thanks!

We're considering buying a property in the Grand Haven area that has a 100 year old barn. I'd like to find someone with experience evaluating old barns, so he could tell us whether the structure is sound and restorable. Any contacts you could recommend?
Thanks!

Hi,
I am participating in a Vex Robotics competition, I am on a team and we are currently building our robot, and I was wondering is you had any pictures, that could give us an idea for some arm designs for our robot?
